This regular travel also gives CML staff first-hand knowledge of the movement of the customer’s cargo and how it is handled – from working directly with the Agents, in their offices, to reviewing procedures in place, to being hands on – literally, supervising the loading and unloading of cargo, directly, with a transporter or within a port. Having first-hand knowledge of the cargo itself and how it can be handled and transported gives staff an invaluable insight.
In addition, again, as part of CML’s ISO 9001 accreditation, as for Zambian staff, CML looks at training for in-house staff, on an ongoing basis – be it specific to logistics, administration or accounting functions.
